The “government” was just acknowledging societal standards. It was never the other way around.

On the other hand, most of the other wives I know I wouldn't touch w a ten foot pole. Same with the single women out there.
The complete flipside is once you get about 50-55, your options start falling off quickly. I have a number of single male friends in their 50's / 60's and they talk about their conquest years, cuz they sure ain't getting much attention now.
