re: Tried skiing today for the first time

Learned how in Japan while stationed there. Had a bunny slope on base and my new friends from all over helped me with the basic. Did ok, hardest part was getting back up on the skis after falling with nothing to hold onto except the poles. The next trip was to a little bit bigger slope and was a lot like your experience. It sucked but kept on going. At the end of the day, we decided to go to the top of the mountain. Mistake. I slid on my back halfway down , probably a easy black run, but steep. Then a group of kids come by in single formation laughing at me in Japanese.
