I was at this game. Still have the game program. It’s a 2 game program with the UNLV team roster added. The UNLV game was just a few days before LMU. .

I'm pretty sure that the UNLV game was played on Super Bowl Sunday. I couldn't get into the PMAC for that game as a student so I had to watch on the TV in my Pentagon dorm room. I remember Dick Vital screaming "Bit the towel, Jerry! Bite the Towel!" at UNLV's coach every time the camera went to him sitting with his team during the game. I also recall Vital saying - "You think the big game is just down the road in New Orleans today? NO, BABY! It's in BATON ROUGE with the LSU Tigers beating up on the Running Rebels!"
That was a great year for LSU basketball with several memorable games that season. And I don't give a flying fornication what anyone else thinks, Dale Brown will ALWAYS be my favorite basketball coach. From November through March of the 80's and early 90's, he made the team, the students, and the fans feel like a big family. There was a connection with basketball in those days that hasn't been seen since. (The "Cult of Personality", if you will.)
