Wanting some advice/input from some Starlink users.
Have a vacation property in the Western NC mountains. No fiber internet available and unreliable cell service.
Currently have ViaSat. Paying $225/month for 30mbps top end speed with 100 gig data cap. (Rip off, but the only option). I’d like to work remotely from this property but it’s just too slow to remote into my workstation and make calls and work from a VOIP.

I’ve been signed up for Starlink for 18 months now and keep having delivery pushed back. I just checked and I’m still more than a year out. I was offered “best effort” service- essentially saying that I’d be deprioritized but could still get on the network and have speeds reduced at peak times. Is anyone else using this “best effort” service and how has it worked for you?

Wondering if I should just stick with Viasat until the full version comes out.

There’s some good info on r/Starlink about “Best Effort” services. This was first I’m hearing about it. Seems most people get good service during off-peak hours, but it slows to a crawl in peak hours.

My Starlink has been pissing me off lately. I’m on typical residential service but I’ll see some reduced speeds during peak hours. I wasn’t sure if it was the cold weather, cloud cover, or just some bandwidth limitations.

It's not just you. I no longer recommend starlink. Such a good thing in the beginning is getting ruined over time between the degrading speeds, price increase, non existent customer service, and data cap policy changes I only have it still because the only companies that annoy me worse are CenturyLink and Fanatics.
