Staff members at University Baptist Church (UBC) in Waco, TX (just a handful of miles from Baylor University) wanted to host a welcoming party for Brittney Griner on Monday after the Baylor alum returned from Russia.
But not too many people were keen on joining this celebration, and only 20 people actually attended the event, which is kind of hilarious.
Naturally, when ESPN found out, they wrote a long article in which they criticized the citizens of Waco and higher-ups at Baylor for not showing “adequate” support for the WNBA star.

So double the crowd of a typical WNBA contest?
They should be thrilled.

" Sharyl West Loeung, a speaker and “facilitator,” at UBC, said in the piece. "But otherwise, from an administrative point of view, that hasn't happened. For myself, coming from a graduate of the seminary and having worked there and [knowing] how much they confess being this Christian organization, I really wanted to see more.”

Just to be clear, and I haven't located any article that states otherwise, Griner didn't attend her own "Homecoming Party", correct?

It's not like we didn't tell them we didn't care.

Surely there must have had the nba superstars there. Maybe state delegates or black caucus members?

I don't show up for anyone who disrespects the National Anthem.
