I agree. The answer is tying bowl game outcomes to your next preseason ranking. You have to make all bowl games relevant. The playoff teams are locked in, 1-4. Starting with the highest bidding bowl game outside of the playoffs, the winning team is locked in at #5, 2nd is #6... on down the line, and the losing teams are relegated to spots outside of the locked positions.

As it stands now, what incentive is there to play? Only one, to increase your draft stock for fringe players on the fence about the draft. It doesn't matter if the teams win or lose, because there's zero carryover, zero, and it's absurd. You're asking guys to play for nothing. Right now, if you win the Citrus Bowl? Awesome, we'll put you at #10, you did great! Lose the Citrus Bowl? Well, they lost, but Daniels is coming back, they'll be great, better than last year for sure... put them at #10!

If you want players to buy in to a team mentality, make the process have a fricking effect on the team. A concrete, you-get-this-for-doing-this effect. Wait, why am I the only one carrying this banner? It's heavy, and it's dragging on the GD ground.

First of all they kinda do, preseason rankings tend to skew heavier to the previous seasons final rankings. But so what? The final 4 will be determined on that season’s results
