97 year old gets juvenile probation.
I'm guessing she identified as a juvenile.

quote:
A 97-year-old former secretary at a Nazi concentration camp has been convicted for her role in the murder of 10,505 people during the Holocaust, in what could be the final trial of its kind.
Irmgard Furchner worked as a stenographer and typist at the Stutthof camp near Gdansk in Nazi-occupied Poland, from 1943 until the end of the Nazi regime in 1945.
She was sentenced Tuesday to a two-year suspended sentence, according to a spokesperson at the court in Itzehoe, northern Germany.
As Furchner was an adolescent at the time of the crimes, the 97-year-old’s trial took place before a juvenile court and her sentence will see her placed into juvenile probation, the court confirmed to CNN.
I guess the quote function is simply too difficult for some.

She wasn't just some random paper pusher. She was on site, as it were, working there every day.
She didn't give orders, or carry them out, but she did process damn near everything else.

So they were right. Stuff really does go on your permanent record!
"Hey granny! What are you in here for?"
Oh....

They never caught Hitler's pool man.

The world is a safer place because of this.

This is just dumb. There is nothing remotely related to justice in this decision.

Smh. Wtf was she supposed to do back then? The third Reich was brutal to Jewish sympathizers. She should've just killed herself?
99% of those pricks who condemn her would've also kept their head down and did what they were told. If they were in her position back then.

But if you look at some evidence and decide to believe it, Hitler spent the last years of his life living in South America.

What is it with these people and tacit acceptance of people even remotely associated with nazis? I mean what’s in it for them, what could you possibly have to gain?

Just like all these desk heroes in school when slavery is discussed. "That's awful I would have started a slave rebellion" STFU you would have worked your menial job and not thought twice about it.

Gotta keep the zeitgeist alive somehow. Liberals (and too many conservatives) view the entire universe through the lens of WWII and Nuremberg. It the current governing mythos of western society. If we discovered aliens tomorrow they would ask if they had any Nazi leanings.

Thinking it’s weird to spend the time and money to prosecute a 97 year old woman for doing paperwork as a teenager isn’t “tacit acceptance” of Nazis. The better question is what do people like YOU gain from torturing grandma?

Exactly. You’d do as you are told.
The only war criminals come from the side that loses.

From the article "in what could be the final trial of its kind." No doubt some are wistful this may have been the last opportunity to screech at somebody who was actually there.

I have a theory on this kind of show trial/prosecution.
No one gives a shite about a low level secretary/stenographer who was a teenager at the time of her "crimes" 80 years ago.
Modern-day Germans are ashamed of the legacy handed to them by their grandparents' generation. They didn't prosecute this woman because they believe she did something wrong. They prosecuted her in a vain attempt to absolve themselves of the wrongs of her generation.
It is a wholly self-serving exercise. It is childish. It is petty. It is vengeful. It is meaningless. None-the-less, they felt compelled to do it.

Who cares? She got a suspended sentence. Nothing about her life changes.
Germany is just trying desperately to absolve itself before there’s no more Nazi’s left to prosecute.
