I brought this exact point to a family friend that owns a dealership, we may never see packed car lots again and I wouldn’t be surprised if manufacturers keep supply artificially low for this reason.

Manufacturers will not keep supply artificially low once they can catch up. The manufacturers want to move cars. The dealerships are playing with fire here, and if they continue their current pricing and addendum’s there’s a chance the manufactures will begin to sell direct to consumer. I know Ford has already mentioned it.

Manufacturers are letting dealerships die a slow death. The dealers are currently happy because they have no floor plan interest but are still selling ordered vehicles.
