If he "always wanted to be a Tiger" he still could have been last season. I doubt Kelly pulled his scholarship offer upon taking the LSU job.

That said, I understand what you mean. He was committed to LSU for 10 months and only decommitted when LSU announced Orgeron wasn't returning for 2022. The kid committed to a coaching staff who, through no fault of his own, he was never going to play for. So I understand why a highly recruited players might choose the more stable option at the time. Especially when that option is really good.

LSU now has an established coaching staff with a fairly certain long term (at least the next 3-4 years) outlook. The kid wants to return to LA and sees LSU as a good option.

It would be no different if one of us had agreed to work for a company upon our graduation from college only to have the CEO/boss we committed to leave the company before our graduation. You may have really liked the company. But with uncertainty in the leadership at the time you graduated to took the really good out of state job with stability. Still, you always had a desire to return home if the chance presented itself. A year later the in-state company appears to have good, stable, leadership. In fact, it looks like it may be a BETTER job than when you initially agreed to work there. So you decide to return home to where you really wanted to be in the first place.
