Former NBA great Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested on Sunday in Florida just hours after he graduated from the University of Miami and received his master’s degree. Stoudemire, who starred for the Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks, was charged with misdemeanor battery after an incident with his daughter, according to Miami-Dade County online records. South Florida sports journalist Andy Slater first reported Stoudemire’s arrest.

Has two daughters, 17 and 14, and punched one in the face and blood was found at the scene. Daughter contacted mother asking for help.

I was at a resort a few years ago, he was there with his 3 or 4 kids. It never failed we would end up next to them at the pool and dinner. His kids were very respectful and nice. All of us with teens know that they deserve a good jolt back into reality every once and awhile, but striking them like that is not good!

Well, that's certainly one way to celebrate.

I’m sure he got his college degrees the same way you and I have to. No way he doesn’t have someone else do the work for him.

Can we go back to the days when professional athletes and entertainers weren’t celebrated as role models but as what they are. Entertainers.

Apparently got disrespectful with the grandmother and was talking back… these types of situations are always uncomfortable because depending on when you were raised some discipline can be seen as abusive…

Went to see him play when he was highly touted in hs. He scored 4 pts and couldn’t care less.

New title, same ol’ Ameer.

The real question is why he would pay someone to do his schooling at this stage in the game? Oh well, can’t fix stupid.

What it does say is the child told police that the 6-foot-10, 255-pound Stoudemire, who ended his NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2016, punched her in the jaw and slapped her hard enough to draw blood.

What a sorry father.

I could understand this if he had just gotten a PhD and she refused to call him Doctor, but this shite is unacceptable over a Master's degree.
