Seychelles to map seagrass for impact of global warming, hmm wonder why????

A little background. These islands make their living off tourists, you know ones who FLY in leaving a big carbon footprint, but forget about that.
They were one of the first to complain about how global warming, climate change, whatever the buzzword is now, is impacting their lives. Why it might erode their beaches and take away their only means of screwing up the environment,,,,, tourists.
Of course other countries are now clamouring for that piece of Paris Accord pie, not to be outdone they have now commissioned a study on seagrass, WHICH THEY SAY CAPTURES CARBON AT 40 TIMES THE RATE OF THE RAINFOREST/JUNGLE....translation "back off Africa, this is our pie to eat not yours".
Here is a blurb about "the study"....
quote:
Countries can include seagrass protections as a nature-based solution in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement, to bolster global efforts to lessen the impacts of climate change. To account for the climate values provided by the protection of seagrass within policy—and to successfully manage the carbon stored in seagrass soils—countries should know the distribution and extent of their seagrass meadows, and (if possible) estimate the below-ground carbon stock.
NDCs gentlemen, NDCs, or in state department parlance "Benjamins, show me the Benjamins".

BS, there is no air underwater, therefore there is no co2 underwater either
but dont let that stop the money grab

OMG! You can’t beat the stupid in this post
CO2 moves very easily between the air and the sea, in which it is dissolved and the carbon is stored by seagrass.
But carry on with your ignorance.

Uh, water has both oxygen and carbon dioxide among other gasses in it.

Wonder what the greatest source of carbon sequestration, ALGAE is consuming?

I’ve been to Seychelles many times. I can tell you from experience, global warming isn’t ruining the tourism industry there.
The locals are.

Kick his arse Seagrass

If people just knew what earth looked like a few thousand years ago they would shite. It’s gonna change regardless of EV’s and carbon taxes

Salt water borne blue green algae uses and sequesters more CO2 than any other single ecosystem, by a factor of hundreds.
If sea levels were to rise, this would INCREASE the amount of CO2 needed, making a closed system with internal balances.
It’s almost as if some unknown power built a system that renews itself! Who could have guessed that??

Gotta wonder why a “study” (which in this case is pretty redundant) needs to link itself to the moneypot known as the Paris agreement. Can you say mandates?
Nothing new will be learned and no effect on the climate will ever take place as a result of this study. This is a global fleecing operation just as OP stated.

Dude, they obviously breathe water. Duh.
ETA: this is sarcasm for the humorless.

Marine plant life account for 70% of the oxygen and as much as 30-40% of the CO2 in the air.
Something lost on climate assholes

The paris accord calls for rich countries to put hundreds of billions of dollars in a slush fund to be given to poorer countries.
So the little countries are working overtime to prove how devastated they are by climate change so they can tap that fund. Keep in mind this is different than the money ole mr senile just threw out there at the last climate change meeting, for some unknown reason he felt compelled to give away additional money rather than telling them to tap the existing fund.

Technically incorrect. CO2 is not being sequestered. CO2 is being metabolized by plant photosynthesis and the carbon is used to make glucose, which makes starches and cellulose and many other hydrocarbons. The oxygen is released back into the atmosphere.
