What the frick are you talking about?

No matter how bad JD has looked this year, CBK has refused to bench him. “This is my guy and that’s who I’m going with. I don’t care how bad he looks or how bad he plays, I’m right because I’m the head coach and you’re not.” Leaving Nuss on the bench this entire season has been a huge mistake.

This has been my primary dissatisfaction with Kelly.

other wise I like the 'culture' he preaches.

Yours is an egocentric interpretation based on the assumption that Kelly is locked into some battle with you. Kelly doesn't even know you exist, and he is not involved with any struggle of egos, either with you or any other fans.

Kelly played Daniels because he thought that was our best chance of winning. Simple.

LSU was picked to finish 5th in the SEC West. In case you missed it, they won the SEC West...with Daniels at QB. Thus, it's a bit hard to say not playing the backup QB was a "huge mistake".

Besides the Tennessee game, where other factors caused LSU to fall behind 10-0 before the offense possessed the ball twice, was LSU ever "out of the game" early enough to necessitate a QB switch? LSU won 9 games. Everyone is dumping on the QB because of the last two, when in reality the much, MUCH, bigger issue was the complete collapse of the defense.

Could starting Nussmeier all season have yielded different results? We'll never know. But if someone would have said before the kickoff vs. FSU that LSU would win 9 games and the SEC West EVERYONE on this board would have taken it. Nussmeier looked great throwing the football in the 2nd half on Saturday. He was also in a very low risk situation. LSU was already down 25 when he entered the game. It wasn't a "must win" games in terms of LSU making the playoffs. Whether LSU ultimately lost by 10 or by 40 didn't really matter. They would still lose. So he had some freedom to throw a bit riskier passes.

To take a definitive stance LSU would have been much better with Nussmeier at QB this season is foolish. NO ONE can say that for sure. The bigger question is moving forward. All year LSU's offense struggled mightily to push the ball down field. Nussmeier did more of that in one half that LSU did all season. So I think that is something the coaches have to consider if they are not fully satisfied with how the offense performed this season.

If LSU were 6-6 or 5-7 this year largely because of bad QB play I would be right there with the others criticizing Kelly for not making a change. But given the fact LSU exceeding virtually ALL reasonable expectations this season it is really hard to criticize the personnel decisions.

There were plenty of threads like this last year on the UGA board about Bennett playing over JT Daniels. I myself was of the opinion that we couldn't win the Natty with Bennett, and couldn't understand why Kirby stuck with him, even after what happened in last year's SECCG. As it turned out Kirby knew what he was doing. The bottom line is we as fans only see what happens on Saturdays these coaches see these players in practice everyday. If you are truly bought in on CBK and believe he's the right coach for LSU then trust his and his staff's judgement.

Are you retarded? This is an honest question. A team that would have been lucky to when 6 games coming in to the year, just won the SEC west and was in the playoff discussion at the end of the year. You going to act like BK doesn't know what he is doing??? How do you think this happened?

What game did LSU lose because of Jayden Daniels that you can truly say Nuss would have made a difference?

This is patently false. He put Nussmeier in early in the season and he looked pretty terrible. Go back and rewatch the Southern game.

Yes . I agree not giving Nuss more playing time was a mistake . In the second half of the NM state game , I liked his quick setup and fast release and accuracy . He is unpolished , but there is a ton of raw talent to develop . Now , JD , I feel has plateaued .
4 yr starter , inconsistent . After all this coaching , he does not play Championship football . You will not win a Natty with JD . Kelley must know this by now .
