Doing that very thing.

Deer hunting with a Remington 7400 270 cal that a family member had totally abused. I reburbed it and it looks great now.

Duck hunting with a Franchi 12 gauge auto I bought around 1978 or so. Put it away when steel shot came along but pulled it back out this year....figured no way to hurt choke with no more ducks than I normal see and get to shoot at.

My dad passed away last year and I intend to use his old 788 Remington .308 on some deer hunts this year.

My grandfather had a 742 in .3006. It was fairly accurate, but that action is not sturdy. We treat it as a single shot or a wall hanger.

But my nearly forgotten single shot rifle is a custom built flintlock. Because, why not...

Last year I went back to a Hawkins 50 cal muzzleloader with iron sights. Killed 4 doe and a nice 8 point last year. Got a doe yesterday. Never know if it is going to shoot or not when the hammer hits the cap. Lol

Ahhh.
The old 742 30/06..
Had one years ago and it got stolen.
Kicked like a Mule and it was known as the Jam Master.
Hope whoever stole it is cursing it too... Thanks Guy

I tell myself every year I’m gonna break out one of my old rifles. I stick with my xbolt every time. Y’all have motivated me to break out my Dad’s 336 marlin he won in high school in the 70s. Open sight 30-30 brings up some damn good memories.

I had a Ruger M77 7x57 (7mmMauser) that I assumed was stolen by a house cleaner about 5 years ago. My mother called me yesterday and said she had one of my rifles she found at her house. Just picked it up, it was the presumed stolen 7x57 with a Leopold on it. I’ve used a .444 year around since I lost that Ruger, but am considering using it for the rest of the year now.

Yep. Just got a meat doe tonight so I'm probably going to switch to a .243 I inherited recently from my dad. It's a cut down model 600 Remington that is just sweet as hell.

I hunt exclusively with a 742 Woodsmaster chambered in .308. I've read all about the jamming issues and I've personally never had a problem. Keep it clean, oiled, and she cycles just fine. She's deadly too.

I haven't had any problems either. I do baby mine though. They don't make them anymore so replacement parts are hard to come by.

I’m gonna get my dads old .54 new Englander muzzle loader out and clean it and use it during primitive season. Been in the safe for years

I enjoy using an old school black powder gun for the sport of it. Makes it challenging

Hunted with this 7x57 this morning. It was originally my dad's rifle.

It really is. I inherited a lot of guns from my dad and this is one of my favorites along with a model 70 super grade in 7x57 made in 1937 and a 2 barrel set sweet 16 he bought after WW2.

My old model 700 .243, single shot .35 Whelen and BAR .308 will all be in service this year. It’s just hard to leave the .243 at the house….. sweet sweet shooter and kills them just as dead.

My PawPaws old Remington 870 Wingmaster. 3 inch mag with the plain 30 inch full choke barrel. Love that old gun. I got the mate to it too. My Daddy bought them at the same time and gave one to PawPaw. Sweet looking pump guns
