Law schools can still require it if they want, and this doesn't change any of the requirements for actually becoming an attorney. And for the record, there was never a minimum LSAT score; schools were simply required to force their applicants to take it and report their score.

This is a big nothingburger.

Eta: For those unaware, the LSAT isn’t a minimum competency exam. It’s an aptitude exam, like the ACT/SAT. There is no pass fail. There has never been anything stopping a law school from accepting someone who got, literally, every LSAT question wrong. All that was required was that the individual take the exam and report their score.

So, it makes it easier for minorities to be accepted because the test won’t be mandated for them. This provides cover to admissions departments.

But white and Asian applicants will have more competition, thus effectively requiring them to make higher scores

But it’s a nothing burger to joshjrn

You can deflect all you want but this is just part of the march towards insanity.

From what I've heard, the LA bar exam is a complete fricking joke these days. Combine that with eliminating the LSAT and we're in for a disaster

Right…so by not requiring any score at all, law schools can more freely pick diversity candidates and not worry about their “average LSAT score for admission” dropping. I mean, the top tier schools CAN take a 140 LSAT, but they certainly would not. Because they maintain their top tier status. This way they have more leeway.

There’s definitely an argument that the LSAT is bullshite in terms of identifying good future lawyers. So then make that argument and dispose of the test on those grounds. Don’t sit here and pretend the test is racist or that there is any meaningful lack of diversity in law.

Sure, if you're an elite going to an elite school that has actual standards, or a rich person represented by a lawyer who actually had to earn and compete for their degree.

The cheap, poor people's lawyers, however, will be increasingly incompetent, including public defenders. This entire segment of the profession will become less and less qualified over time, and the people they represent will become less and less capable of effectively litigating anything.

The ruling class is putting another nail in most people's coffins, while once again saying blacks are stupid.

Yeah, total nothingburger.
