Tennessee did the same thing and blitzed the extra man. Hes not quick enough to trust his receivers early in this scheme; defaults to his legs when pressure is up the middle. Arky tried to do the same thing as Tennessee and almost won.

This will be the hurdle to pass for the Georgia game cause they do this at a higher level; they did it to Tennessee and made Hooker overthrow at best.

I think Kelly and Dendo were trying to give him reps in this situation so didnt change scheme.

Let it geaux...let it geaux.

Are you claiming to be smarter than Nick Saban & Pete Golding?

They watched the tape of the Tennessee & Auburn game, but they couldn’t come up with a way to stop JD??

We haven't run a RB screen all season long. Not sure if that's on OL, QB or RB but it's insane to me we don't throw more screens when they blitz extra guys constantly.

Yep, single high gives him trouble, it gets worse when a robber is attached. Arkansas took the next step, gambled with pressures and a double robber look which caused him to totally freeze. The common thread in attacking all these looks is taking shots downfield. JD is always a little hesitant to do this but after the second turnover Saturday he just wasn’t gonna push it at all.

Offense was clearly out-schemed/ outcoached by Arky's dc. Also our interior lineman got beat several times creating pressure in JD's face often with just 3 vs our 5. They took away the center of field, intermediate throws and the QB run and our OC couldn't find a way to attack and take advantage of where they weren't. Sure JD made some mistakes but the lack of creativity/persistence in the run game and awareness in passing the attack wasn't great.

It’s so nice to have threads about stuff like this. Much better than all the threads being about finding a coach or hoping the backup QB will not opt out of the bowl game.

I seriously doubt the coaching staff would put any game at risk to allow a QB to struggle with something he hasn’t been handling well. There were adjustments for him. The complete pass to Boutte is an example. Sometimes things like extra rushers have to be overcome by getting rid of the ball quickly into the void created by the rusher. The term “burning the blitz” still applies. I’m sure he is trying, he just has to get better as a pocket passer.

Tennessee did the same thing

He had a decent game against Tennessee. He had more passing yards than Hendon Hooker at halftime.

I think Charlie Hanagriff had the best summary of what happened on Sat:

A) Barry Odom is a great DC and did a hell of a job scheming a gameplan for the defense.
B) It wasn't until the Florida game that Denbrock got it out of Daniels' head to quit worrying about not turning the ball over to the point of regulating his own passing. Once Daniels finally threw a pick that he was so geeked out on not doing, he finally reached a point of "screw it" in his head and started making more throws rather than being solely focussed on not turning the ball over.
C) Keeping B in mind, he throws a weird int early in the game and then fumbles it on the next drive. So now he goes back into anxiety "I can't turn the ball over" mode that we saw pre-Florida.
D) Denbrock recognized this and also recognized that we could be sort of conservative and still the move the ball on them, and fall back on our defense.

I think A-D is relevant to what happened on Saturday. I'm not saying you're wrong at all, makes complete sense to me. But I am saying that it was a series of things ton consider that I think will be left behind in Fayetteville and we will see more of the later part of the season version of JD rather than the early part version over these next few games.

Today CBK said the coaches needed to make better adjustments once they saw what the D was doing. Looking at Skycast view, damn never every pass play was long routes. Yes, JD missed some reads, but it is confusing that they aren't hitting routes underneath and shorter to get the ball out of his hands quickly.

Actually now I think he is holding onto the ball way to long ( more than 3.5 secs).
