I forget who really brought it to my attention, but every up and coming team gets that one run where no one was expecting them and they get to exist in this perpetual high of recognizing they are better than they thought and everyone else not yet respecting it. So that team has a chance to over perform and win a lot of games that maybe they shouldn’t always.

Dallas and Atlanta had it couple years ago, Cleveland had it early last season, the Pels had it later last season. Feels like the Jazz have it right now.

But once teams know they know, and the word was out on the Pels so no longer are you catching teams off guard. I think this young team is having to adjust to that. That we aren’t the underdogs and teams have game plans and us pencilled on the schedule as a team you have to get up for.

I’m not ready to claim Willie is a poor coach. I do question some of the rotation minutes and the utilization of Zion, but he’s young too. If we are 40 games in and it still looks way harder than it should given our talent to score, and we can’t put it together defensively, guys that shouldn’t are still getting major minutes. I’ll panic, but I think this is the natural process of a good team coming up against a good league that finally respects us.

I mean this is it. We are only 13 games in. Anyone reaching definitive conclusions about this teams floor or ceiling is just being ridiculous. At least wait til the new year before sounding the distress signal.

We aren't the Heat, but Lebron's first year in Miami the Heat started out the season 9-8. They had a young coach and a true super team that knew how to win. We have a young coach, a team with a ton of talent that don't necessarily know how to win.

Point is, I think it's going to take some time and semi-struggling with chemistry and coaching with new pieces playing together is not new. Our guys aren't the Lebron/Wade/Bosh Heat, but the team is loaded and they just have to figure things out and sometimes that takes time. I expect more of a well oiled machine in a month or so and I can't wait to see it. Just need our training staff not to step in and not make guys sit out over a bad hangnail.
