In the weeks leading up to last night, there were several posters talking about coming for their first time. Some were Tiger fans and some were just sports fans that had Death Valley on their bucket list.

Well the ole girl showed her true colors last night and I want to hear your takeaways.

Met two guys at the game that came from Montana. Had no rooting interest in either team, but said they had to come to see LSU/Bama game as football fans. Boy did they choose a good one. Both wore purple and gold, cheered as loud as anyone, and left as Tiger fans.

As my wife and I waiting for my son and nephew to come back from the field, I noticed a kinda hippie lookin fella in his 40’s next to me. I gave him the “can you believe this shite” look and he told me he was from Oakland, Ca. His 13 yr old told him this past Summer that he wanted to go to a game in TS for his birthday. He says (paraphrasing but pretty close), “ flew into Nola last night and got to BR this morning. Got invited to eat and drink at countless tailgates and were welcomed by perfect strangers all day long. Thought that would be my eye opening experience of the weekend, but now I’m not even sure what f’ing planet we’re on! That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen and this is the most amazing place I’ve ever watched a game. I cannot believe how intense it stayed for the entire game. My 12 yr old doesn’t know one other person in this entire state much less this stadium and now he’s on the field! This is all unbelievable and neither of us will ever forget this day.”

Pretty f’ing cool and made me realize that even know we all love it and have no problem bragging on it, none of us should ever take what we have for granted. Tiger Stadium, LSU, and in spite of all its issues the state of Louisiana is a very special place. We’re all pretty lucky to be a part of it.

100% vehemently disagree with you on this.

LSU- Yes.

BR and State of Louisiana- Frick No.

I had two visitors from Minnesota and two from Iowa attend the game with me. None of them had been to a SEC game before much less a LSU night game. Two from Minnesota are Gopher fans. The ones from Iowa were a Hawkeye fan and an Iowa state fan. They were blown away by everything starting with the tailgating and food. As for the game they said they can’t compare it to anything as it was in a league of its own. Nothing in the Big 10 compared. One commented he had been to a.game in arrowhead and thought that stadium was loud but after attending our game he said no way arrowhead was louder. The whole atmosphere was electric and they left with nothing but great things to say about LSU.

I was proud of our fan base at this game. In my nearly 40 years of attending home games I consider this one the best I have attended. Don’t get me wrong the earthquake game and beating number one Florida in 97 and the multi-fourth down completion game against florid were absolutely awesome but this one for me just seemed different. It was a special evening.
