It's Notre Dame. The admission requirements are just as much a disadvantage to them as being in Indiana. Sure there's talent in the rust belt, but not like the south. And I'm sure some of those admission requirements can be fudged or doctored.

What about a 1 loss Tenn to a 2 loss Bama and a 1 loss Oregon who lost to UGA? Or a 1 loss Bama who beats a 1 loss Tenn in a rematch.
The SEC is shite this season and somehow it gets a boost. How? Boost an LSU team that got beat by 20+ and lost to FSU over a 1 loss team from another conf.

What point are you trying to make here? The only way for Bama to HS e 2 losses and win the SEC would be if they lose to Auburn. A loss to LSU or OM would give either a 2 game lead over Bama essentially. If they did lose to Auburn and beat undefeated Tennessee they would probably be in as would Tennessee.

Again a complete loss as to what you are saying here

Which is why they aren’t going to win anything. They aren’t going to get the Justin Jefferson’s of the world like Louisiana and states down here have. So much talent there is hidden gems where as up there they may not have 1 5star in their state. Freeman will be fired within 3-4 seasons tops

If they wanted TV ratings they would’ve made Georgia #1 or #2 to set up a game of the century

We're ranked 10th to hype up Saturday's game.

The other argument is that Tennessee is number 1. So we lost to the best team in the nation, and lost the first game of the year on a fluke.

Sets up a moderately decent argument for making the playoff over a one-loss Big XII or PAC-however many school.

Are deluded.
Sure the whole committee met and said, “how do we make Alabama look better?”

I hate to admit it but I think you’re right. That move could backfire on the “committee” though if the Tigahs have a clean game. I firmly believe that without any Yuge mistakes we will win that game.

LSU got bumped up to 10 for TV ratings. 'Top 10 matchup'

Why would the committee care about TV ratings? That's for networks to worry about, and they don't have a vote in these rankings.

I’ve had two nieces attend and graduate from Norte Dame. Both were also tutors to athletes. This was 12-15 years ago. Back then I can assure you that standards were not changed for those athletes one bit. Today-I can’t speak to that. It was a real problem for recruiting then and also to do the academic work once a kid was in school. No exceptions for anyone, athlete or not.

If there is a conspiracy, you’re right in that it wouldn’t benefit Bama if LSU wins.

However:

1. It gives ESPN a top 10 matchup with CBS having a top 3.
2. If Bama wins, it would be an extra feather in their hat whenever the committee justifies whatever moves they make next week and into the future.
3. Maybe this is a long play to help Tennessee should they lose to UGA this weekend or beat UGA and lose a rematch to Bama in Atlanta.
4. Maybe this a long play to help UGA should LSU win out and win in Atlanta.

All of that is moot if LSU just keeps winning, and it could very well be that the committee thinks LSU deserves this ranking.

You ever been to South Bend? Beautiful downtown and ND campus is top tier. You probably should visit b/f writing some idiotic post about a city you've never seen. Can't argue with your beef about hiring Freeman. ND is too good of a program to hire a 1st year coach. Time will tell.....

BTW: My kid went to ND and loved all 4 years there. She grew up down south and braved the cold winters but the city and campus were awesome!

What happens when they compare resumes across the country like Oregon with 1 loss to Bama?

Oregon gets left out. Duh. We’ve seen this play out before and it cost us another National Championship because Les Miles was too stupid to change his game plan when facing an opponent the second time that season.

Bama is in the same boat we are in. They must win out to get in the playoffs. (Though I guess there is a small chance they could lose one more and still make the SEC championship game and if they won that, they could still be in)

Considering how entangled the CFP is with ESPN, I’d say ESPN loves the coincidence of now having a top 10 matchup.

The rankings have a lot to do with money scams. That’s really it.

The only team that benefits from LSU being Rank #10 is LSU!! Like the OP stated that all Bama has to do is win out period! A one loss SEC Champ will get in over any other one loss team and some undefeated ones also!

How do you get a 1 loss Tennessee and a 2 loss Alabama?

If Tennessee has 1 loss, it probably means they either lost to UGA (and didn’t win their division) or lost in the SECCG.

If Alabama has 2 losses it probably means they either lost to LSU (and didn’t win their division), lost to Ole Miss (and didn’t win their division) or lost in the SECCG.

So for both of these things to happen, it most likely means either:

1. Neither Tennessee nor Alabama won their divisions, and you’re leaving the SEC champion out of the argument (either UGA, LSU, or Ole Miss).

2. Alabama did not win their division. Tennessee won their division and lost to either LSU or Ole Miss.

Neither of these scenarios help Alabama. Both would, at best, place Alabama as the third highest ranked team in the SEC.
quote:

and a 1 loss Oregon who lost to UGA?

Oregon still has to beat Utah and they still have to win the PAC 12 championship game. If they pull that off, they’ll be in over any non conference champion from the SEC except maybe UGA, since they already played and UGA blew them out.
quote:

Or a 1 loss Bama who beats a 1 loss Tenn in a rematch

In this scenario Tennessee would be undefeated going into the SECCG. Bama would definitely be in as a 1 loss SEC champ. Tennessee probably would not get in, unless they absolutely blow out UGA. But it really depends on what happens in the other conferences at that point.

Regardless, LSU’s initial CFP ranking doesn’t make a difference for Alabama.
