Uga, Smokey, Bevo - just some of the live mascots still on field. WHY NOT MIKE?!?

This is the ONE tradition I wish they would bring back to Tiger stadium. If it's the PETA nutjobs who are forcing LSUs hand and not allowing this to happen, how come they don't raise a stink about all the other live mascots in college football that still take the field?!?!
Bring the Up (or Down) votes.
Edit:
Before you respond to this post saying one is a wild animal vs the other 2 are just mutts and livestock. Stop it. No one is asking for Mike to be paraded around on a leash. He IS a wild animal - hence he has a cage.

You really don’t see a difference between a caged in endangered bengal tiger & a dog or cow on a leash?
Posted on 10/26/22 at 7:38 am to TigerFan244
Two dogs and a longhorn…yeah those animals are on the same level as a bengal tiger…

You do know that just bc you care about the humane treatment of animals doesn’t make you a PETA supporter, right?
Posted on 10/26/22 at 7:45 am to TigerFan244
Because it’s a tiger and not an inbred mutt or a cow.

Does any other university even have a live wild animal on campus?
Posted on 10/26/22 at 7:49 am to TigerFan244
Not sure it is in a tiger's best interest to take it to a college football game.

Tell you what, you go put a leash on him and walk him around.

LSUPETA coming after you. You can see the responses already.

Trashy post from a trashy poster.
Indian mounds being roped off is a less trashy melt.

It's hard to believe that there are people this dumb. The 10 current upvoted suggest that there are plenty more of them roaming around too.

I for one wish Mike would be back on the field while acknowledging two things:
1. There's a huge gulf between a wild animal such as Mike and other animals that have been termed domesticated.
2. I like the idea that if he doesn't want to, then don't make him. Including baiting. If he wants to get in the Mikemobile, then let's do this. If not- he's got that nice arse spread and I don't blame him.
* note that groups such as PETA do not factor into this at all in my reality and they shouldn't.

For what it's worth, if you are looking for more discussion on this issue than this thread produces, do a quick search. It's a topic that comes up fairly regularly (there was a thread less than a month ago I think). Lots of reading for the interested.

Google , “what is a domesticated animal?” And report back.

He will never go back in the trailer.
Only solution to get him back would be an enclosed bridge from his enclosure to the stadium where he could come and go as he pleases. He would have his own spot in the stands.
However, the last Mike hated the fireworks when the team ran out.

Two house pets and drugged up livestock. Not really an apples to apples comparison to an apex predator. Look, I loved seeing mike paraded through the stadium as much as anyone, but having thought about it getting older, its not hard to realize how much of a sensory overload that is for a tiger who's existence is based on stealth and silence. I bet it is hard for the vet school/caretakers to say they are doing everything in the best interests of the cat but 6-7 times a year we toss him in a cage and through the middle of 100,000 screaming fans and football players running around.
It sucks but at this point I get it.
