Maybe so, but I am not a big fan of throwing a kid out to the sharks. I rather take our lumps this year and regain the leadership and experience for the long term.

I think he could use some gametime experience and with 2 QB's coming next year he will need all the experience he can get to compete with them.

link?

I think hatch being hurt has a lot to do with JJ being "healed"

dont ya think?

No link, just my opinion.

Yes, Hatch's injury is why they are talking about playing JJ now. It'll depend on the severity of Hatch's injury. We can't believe anything Miles says about an injury, so we'll have to wait till Saturday to see what happens.

Can't imagine Hatch will play, so if JJ doesn't play, no sense playing anymore this season unless both Hatch and Lee are hurt.

not even to get him some experience so if Lee goes down next year, he'll have a backup with some snaps?

Again, only if it's meaningful gametime. A couple of 4th quarter plays in a blowout really won't help him much. I'm not opposed to giving him playing time, just oppose to meaningless playing time that will cost him a year.

I think it really depends on the severity of Hatch's injury, which we don't know.

Not if you don't use him in the remaining SEC games. If they use him in Hatch's role, fine.

If Lee goes down to injury and Hatch isnt 100% wouldnt it better to have him in Gametime situations?

Again, the key is Hatch's injury. They know the severity, we don't. If they know Hatch is definitely out for the Bama game or longer, then I expect to see JJ Saturday.

Here is my opinion.

Burn his shirt.

Give him (JJ) one half of the snaps against Tulane, with the full playbook. Not to just run the option or hand off. See what he can do.

I for one think we can beat Bama, but JLee would need to be on a very short leash. Be nice to know if JJ can get the job done. I just do not think Hatch can, Saban will shut down a one dimensional team very quickly.

I also think we need him against Ole Miss. We still have the potential for a two loss season and a New Years Day or later bowl. We have RS coming in this spring, having JJ and RS on the same year is not needed IMO.

Yes, and you would think that means he'll miss much of the rest of the season, but Miles is being his usual self on injuries. Here is a quote from The Advocate yesterday.
quote:

“I think he’s certainly getting some snaps, more than he has in the past, and he’s coming of age,” LSU coach Les Miles said during the weekly Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference. “He enjoyed practice (Tuesday) and I think he’s gotten better. How soon and how ready? It would be nice to get him in this game and play a lot of snaps, but I don’t know that he’s ready to do that. Maybe in a very limited menu he could step on the field and make some plays.

“I do think that he’s getting some practice snaps where he hasn’t in the past and it’s evolving him, but I don’t know that he’ll step into Hatch’s role. Hopefully Hatch will be step back into that role quickly.”

It's probably Miles just downplaying the injury. If he puts a QB on the field with a broken leg then that's horrible judgment and coaching.

This thread lost credibility with the first post. Now the third string quarterback is the best on the team. Look at how far we've fallen.

You gotta be kidding me. Bottom line is that Lee is better. Jefferson is not that good. He may turn out to be good but not this season and probably not next season. Get over it and get behind Lee. He's our only shot.

Jefferson should be out of the question right now.

I would hate to see JJ waste a year of eligibility if we're only talking about a handful of plays this season.

I totally agree. If he's going to factor in the gameplan against Bama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and the bowl game, by all means play him Saturday. If not, keep the redshirt.

Do people who think JJ is going to be the savior of this team know anything about football? Yeah, let's start him against Bama and watch Saban blitz him from every angle..............we'll see how that turns our. Unbelievable!!

nobody is expecting JJ to be the savior. people just want JJ to get a few series to get his feet wet. had the coaches did this at the beginning of the season, JJ would feel a lot more comfortable running the offense than now.

If we're gonna run a 2 QB system, why let the 2nd guy be the faster, stronger-armed, not hurt one?
