Payton is still our wildcard for a 1st Rd pick.

If things fall just right, Bryce Young could be in play!

That’s all I got. We fuuucked. Future not looking bright without a miracle.

Should’ve offered whatever McDanial wanted and more instead of losing him to Miami while getting stuck with a retread that failed his first stint as HC. Dennis Allen has had a few good years as DC but never was a high profile DC.
With Sean retiring, Saints should’ve cleaned house because Sean was the alpha. Promoting a follower of Sean Payton was just wishful thinking by the FO to think Allen would automatically become the alpha with a promotion.
Carmichael didn’t even want to be the OC without Payton holding his hands.

Loomis will trade him for a 2nd and 3rd as a favour to CSP.

Loomis would trade AK, MT and Olave for Young. This offseason showed his lack of foresight.

Not a high 1st. Those teams will keep the pick so they can draft a franchise player. They can hire someone else to coach.

I know this is like a three years ago conversation, but do y’all think that SP held on to Taysom hopes as Brees’s replacement for too long? I haven’t gone back through the FAs and QBs in the draft for the last few years. Just my opinion. He perhaps passed on future QB replacement thinking that Hill had the goods. I feel like JW was always a hopeful project or a placeholder.

No, I think Sean was so worried about proving to everyone how smart he was that it blinded him to reality. Taysom is a great player. He’s not a great quarterback. CSP wanted to prove everyone wrong there.

When I said this I got showered in downvotes

The Saints love Sean. He and Mickey did this thing together for 16 years. That’s a LONG time in this business. They’re great friends. I just can’t see them making the move in a way that hamstrings wherever Sean wants to go.

Miami was his #1 choice and I don't know if he even really interviewed anywhere else (certainly didn't here).

So that offer would have needed to be a "horse head" offer.

Yes. He fricked us.

His loyalty to Brees also fricked us.

Then he tucked his tail and ran when he knew the bottom was falling out.

Coaching just wasn't "fun" for him anymore.

But it may be "fun" again at a better city with a young QB and a better cap situation.

One of the few jobs where you can tank a franchise and get rewarded by going to another franchise.

I agree but I really fell for the hype when he first started getting hyped up. I was also impressed he had Tua healthy and looking like a real NFL QB.

I meant he had him looking good when he was still alive.

I haven’t watched them too much lately. I was wondering if he was gonna use Tyreek Hill in that Deebo Samuels role. I thought that would be lethal but with a decent QB. I wasn’t sold on Tua after hearing Sean Payton talk about him on Cowherd. I do remember Sean saying he expects Teddy to be starter at some point, whether by injury or by being a better QB than Tua was at the time. Sean definitely wasn’t confident in his ability to be a good franchise QB. That’s how I took it. Maybe I’m wrong.

Yep, a lot of people will be expecting Gruden compensation. They'll be disappointed when they find out what the Saints hapless administration gives up for.

Chargers "Mickey, we'll give you a 1st and a 3rd this year, 2nd next year"
Mickey "we don't have the cap space for that, can you make it 3 5ths?"
