But, wow were those receivers getting open and just a little bit more anticipation and definitely more accurate throwing, LSU would have been really good offensively.

We had 528 yards of total offense. I would argue that we were indeed “pretty good offensively” on Saturday.

The term “Monday morning quarterback” exists for a reason. Very few QB’s, especially at the college level, are going to make the best read and perfectly execute the throw every time. You notice it more when it’s your guy but I’d be willing to bet most teams can point to some opportunities they left on the field, most weeks.

Makes me think uf defense was grossly out coached.

Really illustrates how poorly coached the Florida DB’s are. Who’s their DB coach, again?

I think a few things. Florida is not that good defensively, so it was a very advantageous game for Daniels. But also Daniels seemed a lot calmer with Campbell back protecting his blind side. Also the 4 WR scheme can put teams on notice if executed....and Boutte is open ..... a lot

After watching that I’m concerned that the LSU offensive performance versus Florida is fools gold. For example JD was basically gifted two really bad throws on the first drive that would not have been possible versus a half way decent defense. Florida’s defense is dog shite so I have to lower my expectations as the LSU offense plays better defenses going forward. With that said the LSU offense did want it was supposed to do versus a bad defense.

Call me a Negatiger but I found that film to be more damning for Florida than positive for LSU.

It seems like the UF DC lacked any creativity and basically showed us the coverage every play and Denbrock was just able to call plays to beat the obvious coverage. On top of that UF was bad at running the basic coverages they ran so we had multiple open WRs on most plays.

While it is great that Denbrock got us in the right plays and JD found guys open, what happens when we run into a better DC that hides coverages and/or a better defense that doesn't constantly blow assignments? Will JD be able to find the one guy open when there aren't 3 open options? Will we be able to throw when the safeties aren't playing a mile off the ball?

Mentally, I was better off thinking we just figured everything out on offense than watching that film and seeing that Florida basically played defense holding a road map with their shoes tied together.

I heard a lot of "LSU got the exact coverage they wanted". How do they do that? Just guessing? Watching a lot of film of UF defense? JD doesn't audible/change play at the LOS when he sees the coverage. So how'd LSU do it?

A few ways:

1) they did look over to the sideline a good bit and in those instances the play was changed to beat the coverage they showed.

2) Florida showed tendencies on either certain down and distances or against certain formations that allowed Denbrock to know what was coming.

3) Denbrock called dual lays that had a man beater concept on one side of the field and a zone beater concept on the other. When JD gets to the line, he diagnoses the coverage and works the side that is designed to beat whatever defense they showed.

He’s really lazy. He gets beat and just watches the play instead of going to block someone else. 75 had an awful game.

For those of you that enjoined the offense breakdown, here is the defense breakdown, again from UF perspective

To be fair, anyone breaking down film with a teleprompter is going to sound right. The fact of the matter is he has no idea what defenses and coverages they were running and why the DBs reacted the way they did.

That being said, he knows his shite about technique on defense and offense. Very impressive.

you are missing the biggest point made in that video. the guy repeatedly said that one of their cornerbacks has had multiple knee surgeries and is not back to his normal self. at one point he gives the stats against that cornerback. 8/9 170 ish. crazy stats throwing at one guy.

that is good prep work by analysts/coaches, and good recognition on the field by Daniels. This is very basic, but executed very well.

Thats taking advantage of a weak link but that doesn't explain how we were in the right play against the right coverage so often.
