Turn it off then. The grass isn't going to pack up and move.

Shut it down. Watering in the fall just promotes brown patch fungus that will make the yard look like hell in spring.

I run preventative fungicides in the fall and spring to combat that

What products do you use to combat that?

Never. I scale it back to fewer days and shorter run times thru the fall/winter.
North Texas.

I use Exteris stressgard. It’s pricey upfront but will last years. $320 for 2.5 gallons but It’s an amazing product with two modes of action, nematocide, and plant health benefits. For comparison I can treat my whole yard for about $18 a pop whereas I’d be about $40 a treatment with the big box products disease x (axoxystrobin)and bio advanced (propiconizole). Armada is another good product with two modes of action.

We had the cold snap last week, but my turf was looking stressed and dry by Thursday, so I've been watering again all weekend. I'm a hack, but it seems bad to let the grass go into dormancy while already struggling.

Savannah.

I picked up some spf-30 KBG which is supposed be heat/drought resistant. Read a lot about it being used in atlanta and dfw area but nothing this far down.

I had forgotten last fall to seed it and threw some down in February to see what would take. I had some decent success but had a kill off of a fair bit in August after we were drenched with rain along with the heat but a decent bit survived and is growing pretty well right noa. Figured I'd try it again with another overseed this fall and I'm starting to get some germination and sprout now. If this next go survives the summer then I may kill off my back yard and side and do a complete reno with it so that I get better and fuller coverage.
