Kelly had only 3 losses in his last two seasons there combined and hadn't had a 3-loss season there since 2017. And this was supposed to be their most talented team. Reality is hitting ND fans hard tonight. All of the air is out of the balloon. Beating BYU gave them some hope. That hope is gone losing to a 1-4 team.

Now ND fans are changing the narrative by saying Freeman was an intentional temporary hire just to hold their class together, because Kelly’s timing in leaving put them in a bind for a full coach search.
