I don't think Orgeron was any better as a coach in 2019 than he did in any other year. He didn't suddenly become this all-world coach for a single season and then revert back to being the poor head coach he always was. 2019 was an outlier, they fell into 2019, fell into Joe Burrow (because of Orgeron and his staffs short comings, btw), and the sum of the parts were great enough to hide the underlying issues in the program for a single great season.

2017 LSU finished 18th
2018 LSU finished 6th
2019 LSU finishes 1st with a historic season

That 2019 team sent 14 players to the draft (5 first rounders). Both records.
Chase and Shelvin stay and then opt out 2 months before the season starts. 5 starters returned for 2020.
Most of the staff leaves and O decides to no longer give a shite since he won a natty and wanted to chase tail.

That 2019 team was drawing an inside straight. From talent and experience level to very good coordinators in Aranda and Ensminger/Brady combo. It all went out the door in 2020, but the team was on an upward trend 2017-19.

So you're going to sit here and say Miles left this program in a good state? 2019 shouldn't change your opinion on that. He didn't.

It is impossible for it to have been in a bad state if 0 is the same bad coach he always was.

We fired Les because he refused to adapt to take the talent he had back to championship level.

0 crashed us into the ground once all the key pieces Les left behind moved on.

Miles left this program in 2016 with Danny Etling and Brandon Harris, and by 2018 all Orgeron had was a Sophomore Myles Brennan. Ineptitude all around. But again...the ineptitude all started with Les Miles.

So ignore all the other players and coaches Les left behind that played key roles in 2019?

Per LSU Sports
247 Nat rank
2013 > 2016 = 2, 6, 2, 6
Most of the groundwork for #7 class of Feb'17 was lain by previous staff also, which admittedly involved Orgeron.
Bitch about Miles underachieving with all that talent then turn around and say he left none for O?

Orgeron had a weak arse offseason program and had no idea how to prepare a team. We also had more roster misses in his signing classes than I’ve ever seen from an LSU coach. He was star chasing recruiting rankings but was terrible at his own evals. Look at all of his DL signings in his first full 2018 class after missing on Mathis, Buggs, and that big NT from Mississippi.

He was a great interim energy rah rah coach but needed Pete Carroll or somebody else to make his staff hires. Nobody wanted to coach under him at the end which is why we ended up with Jake Peetz/DJ Mangus and the Vikings DB coach at DC.

With the new transfer portal rules it's pretty dumb to blame the previous coach for obvious coaching issues on the current team. Even if you don't subscribe to the 247 talent rankings, them having LSU at 8 at least shows that this team has enough talent to have a decent team that plays good football.

You, my friend, are a lunatic.

For the life of me I just don't understand the continuing treatment of coach O for he gave us the great season of 2019 and then fell on hard times. He was true blue Louisiana. He couldn't redo 2019 because that is what normally never happens except for Bama. What ever hate we have for Saban ,he has a plan, So get over it and take our victories every so often. Give our guy a chance.

How many seasons will our fans use this excuse. Not saying this isn't true now, just wondering if this is the narrative going forward.

Remember, former QB Myles Brennan was on the roster until mid-august when they informed the 6th year senior the team was going with Jayden Daniels. Subsequently Brennan walked away from football. This staff decided Daniels gave LSU the best chance to win. I still think that was a mistake. One can't help but wonder, if Brennan were still around and playing quarterback in Baton Rouge, would the Tigers enjoy more production?

Stop wondering! Brennan was and is a way better passer than Daniels as a passer. Sure he's not as mobile, but Myles could read a defense, and get the ball out of his hands quickly. Daniels wishes he had that level of arm talent of Brennan.

That mistake falls at the feet of Kelley.

Exactly what many have said, time and time again. With Brennan, LSU may be undefeated.
