I think he means those, say, going north, can get into the merge lane but will have a yield.

Those going south have a turn light to make the left, so they have the right of way.

Some people going north don't yield, but then roll on the shoulder of the onramp until the left-turners are clear

I start planning as soon as I turn onto the onramp

#me2. I try to get over as soon as I am past any solid line. I don't rely on anyone's kindest as little exits on i10

Am I the only one having trouble visualizing an interstate ramp where traffic turns left and right?

Saw it at the light at Highland and I10. I was turning right off of Highland, a car in front of me just kept going and didn't yield to the people turning left at the light (when they had the signal). There was a stream of like 5 or 6 cars turning on and the guy in front of me didn't bother to wait for them and just went down the whole shoulder waiting for the line of cars to pass him

Need a MS Paint diagram showing this

Also, those on the entrance ramp don’t yield, those driving in the right lane on the interstate yield to those merging onto the interstate.

I'm not sure you could be any more wrong about this. In which lane do you typically see a yield sign?

coming off the bridge this happens a ton and I12 at Essen exit....many vehicles take the essen exit only to merge back on to 12 to save a minute or 2

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I made a quick picture for reference:

The red line is people at the light turning left that have the right of way. The blue line is the guy that should have yielded but he just kept going on the shoulder while people were still coming in where the red line is

Always a fun game on RV trips. If I can get over to let them merge, I will. If not, tough shite, learn to merge. Best I can do for them is maintain speed and hope their reptile brains can figure it out.

If I can manage to merge 40 foot of passion wagon onto I-10 they should have no problem in their shite box Corolla.

It drives me crazy to get stuck behind some numb nuts doing 45mph for the full length of the on ramp so that we are both now forced to try and get into traffic at dangerously slow speeds.

On another note, The on/off ramps at I-55 to I-12 and vise versa are dangerous as frick no matter the speed and its a god damn miracle there isn't a wreck there everyday. When pulling a camper you are basically forced to cut someone off in order to merge.

The rules have evidently changed, the yield signs of old are long gone, match speed if there’s a gap and slide in.

The 55/12 interchange is also fun in an RV. You get you arse over at 65 to 70, then immediately get on the brakes before you go barreling off the curve.

people are just stupid. Never fails, half the peeps getting off at the Clearview exit, past the solid white line and realize they are in the wrong lane and force their way over at the last second.

One of the consequences of the Ferguson Effect. Cops are hesitant to make a traffic stop.

The problem at this intersection is the number of people that don't have their blinker on to signal they are making the right on the the ramp. I see it all the time.

So I have no choice but to sit there and wait to see what they are going to do.

No one in this thread is understanding what OP is talking about. I knew what he was saying because I see this all the time.

Agree

That interchange is a disaster and flyover ramps are needed

How shitty your state is is directly proportional to how many cloverleaf interchanges it has.

And Louisiana has a ton.

and there's the problem, the one thing all Americans are united in is that they think they are all great drivers when in fact the majority sucks and don't know the simplest of driving rules
