FL coastline doesn't have to deal with the type of tree damage that inland LA has.

Peace River Electric Coop has been on task as well. Considering the devastation that occurred, very pleased with how this has all unfolded.

You can bet most of those customer's service lines are underground.

More people died at a soccer match over the weekend than due to Ian. But climate change.

Florida started a huge storm resiliency push about 15 years ago. Spent a ton of money on infrastructure hardening so restoration would be faster. Entergy just started doing that this year.

Mine was out for 3 days; saw a bunch of out of state electrical repair trucks.... to them

Florida has gotten pretty great at dealing with hurricanes and damage control

95% of customers with power a week and 1/2 after storm - Does that mean 95% of those whose power went down, or 95% of all of their customers?
What timeframe does LA usually get power restored?
Just curious.

Well yeah. They don’t have ENTERGY.

So 2 weeks after landfall?
Sounds about normal

The army of linemen from around the South was/is massive.

That's great.. The State started cleaning up almost immediately. Thinking about last year with Ida.. That rickety power tower on the Westbank that fell over and caused the whole area to lose power.. Who the hell let that crap to be built like that?

Well, Florida > worthless land between Mississippi and Texas

Kid in my bass club is a lineman. He was in Orlando ahead of the hurricane. I'm sure he'll be there a while, but he said it wasn't that bad compared to other places he's been.

There's a ton of crews down there working right now. My company sent 200 completed crews and they're working 18s.
Another one lost in all this is how impressive Puerto Rico has been with restoration compared to Maria now that they're under different management.

Floridians can turn on the news and see a real leader conducting disaster operations. Louisianians get the pleasure of a slight chromosome missing imbecile dressed up in a GOSHEP fishing shirt pretending to look competent.

Dunno if someone already stated this - but its important to remember Florida got smart a few decades ago and buried huge swaths of the power grid.
Its not like restoring power here, they dont have to replace thousands of poles. In most places they’re just waiting for standing water to subside so they can re-energize that portion of the grid.

Our utility construction company went last week to a cooperative and we are already back. We tried to go elsewhere to assist but every utility already had all the crews needed and were turning away help. The logistics in that area of Florida helped much more than Hurricane Michael in 2018. It is true, much of the transmission and main feeder lines are updated with heavy construction to handle strong winds better than the old crap in Louisiana.
