Yes. I am an fully capable (physically) veteran and don't even use veterans discounts or anything else.
I did it because I felt that serving was the right thing for me. It was an honor and a sacrifice and I'm not going to cheapen it by turning my veteran status into a ploy to get discounts and closer parking.
