Imagine if your manager would have said, "Sorry Koplan, you are the best fry cook we have, we can't afford for you to not be working on this Tuesday night. You will have to leave your girlfriend and baby at the hospital alone."

Actually I called in to work to be with my child and wife as she was delivering and my boss instructed for me to come in after the baby was born and all was okay
