Watched both games last night and as most know it is hard to tell what a fall team is really looking like when the talent on the field is from a JC. While CO-Lin and Pensacola made some great plays I would not call any of the pitching top notch, they did have some off speed spinner types throw to try to keep us off balance,

We had 20 hits in the first game against Pensacola with several batters having multiple hit game lead by Mia Townsend having three hits, short a HR of the cycle. Stewart , Clark, and Gutierrez with bombs along with several balls as hard line drives off the wall.

Stroud started the game and looks much better with her control and speed this week compared to two weeks ago. Chaffin looks like she has gained a lot of confidence and threw as hard and accurate as I have seen her throw. The two combined for a shutout.

Second game was against Co-Lin who has a scrappy team with the highlight of the game being two bombs by Ali Newland. She packs a lot of power for her size she had two no doubters on a night the ball was not traveling well, Again multiple hits of the wall with Carson having two hits of the wall. Speaking of Carson, I believe we have a nice battle building for catcher between Carson and Bergeron with both hitting hard shots of the wall tonight. Carsons main advantage at this point is height, she can get up to some of Ali Kilponen's rise balls that may get past Maci. I feel real good about catcher this year.

Berzon got the start in the game and looked real good for two innings then started to struggle to find the zone. She can bring it and spin it. Kilponen got a few hard hits off her when she entered the game but settle down to retire the side. She is the obvious ace at this time. Overall a good night of pitching in my opinion.

So for those that like to keep score in the fall it was 17-0 and 15-1 un officially in my notes. Not that it means much.

Has Stewart abandoned slapping? I see you said she had a bomb.

I hope she has.

She does well when she stands in and swings away. I think she could have the same kind of success Griggs and Simmons had at the end of their careers when they started to swing away. Thanks for the update WFT!

Looks like we may have a chance, she would fit in smoothly as a replacement for Taylor. Early visits dont always pan out, I'm thinking likely an Alabama commit. We can always wish.....fingers crossed.

We might have a real shot. She fits right in with a good portion of the recruits Coach has brought in over the years. Seems pretty religious, talks about God a lot. Seems like a good fit for the culture of the program. Would be a huge get for the future of the infield for sure.

As teams schedules come out, we can start to maybe get a glimpse of who LSU is playing. And one big game is on a Tuesday night at home against Oklahoma. Interesting pick up for Beth because its a stand alone game and Oklahoma is in West Texas the weekend before playing Texas Tech and goes to Miami Ohio the following weekend. So its not like Oklahoma was close and just stopping by.

Would be a great grab!! Still can't get accustomed to these football announcement approaches in softball. Not a lot of players doing this--Thomas and Doyle only two I have seen do it. Guess if it's good for the fellas it's good for the girls!! I would think we have a shot at this kid.

She would bring a ton of power!! Decently athletic, and probably projected 1B would be my guess. Coach tends to like athleticism in the 4 through 6 positions infield. That's also the trend for the top programs. Add this kid to the 2024 class already secured though and we have the top 2024 recruiting class in my opinion.

This would be a GREAT add. Just don't think athletic enough for MIF at the next level at top programs but you never know. She would make this 2024 class even more amazing though. Given the religious bend of some of her posts I would think we would be at the top of her consideration.

She will most likely be 1b for any major program. Those closest are saying Tennessee is likely top choice.

Buddy of mine shared the Texas forum with me. And sounds like those Horns fans are impressed with what these Tigers have done in the 2024 class :). Here is the last post on one of their streams (gave us an A)

"UPDATED: Bold and italicized are ranked in both rankings (Perfect Game Top 50 and Extra Innings Elite 100 [400]). Florida has another solid class of 2024's now so added them and upgraded grade to an A. I'd only put them behind LSU and possibly OU. LSU looking good right now in 2024 class.

-LSU in my opinion has top classes in the 2024 recruiting class. Florida moving into #2 spot with OU right behind them. UCLA has the #1 player but LSU has 3 of the best in the class and 3 more high level kids with big potential.
-ARK has 3 high level TX residents.

LSU: Grade A
Jayden Heavener (#2 EI/#4 PG) Once ranked #1 in the class.
*Samya Jones (#4 EI/#2 PG) Once ranked #1 in the class.
Destiny Harris (#6 EI/#38 PG)
Zoe Calvez (#5 EI/--PG)
Jada Philips (#17 EI/--PG)
Alix Franklin (#27 EI/--PG)

FLORIDA: Grade A
Gabi Comia UT (#3 EI/#3 PG)
Layla Lamar IF (#5 EI/#5 PG)
*Townsen Thomas OF (#2 EI/#17 PG)
Katelynn Oxley P (#4 EI/--PG)

OKLAHOMA: Grade A
Audrey Lowry P (#3 EI/#6 PG)
Tia Milloy IF (#39 EI/#21 PG)
Cori Hicks C (#7 EI/ #22 PG)
Kady Mckay MIF (local kid)(#18 EI/#13 PG)
Sydney Barker MIF (#8 EI/-- PG)
Gabriel Garcia

UCLAl: Grade A-
Addisen Fisher (#1 in both rankings)
Sofie Mujica (#5 EI/#32 PG)
*Rylee Slimp (EI has her 7/--PG)
Kaniya Bragg (#13 EI/--- PG)
Alina Garcia

ARKANSAS: Grade B+
*Ella McDowell IF (#3 EI/#26 PG)
Lexi King RHP (#29 EI/#46 PG)
*Cameryn Harrison RHP (#5 EI/-- PG)
*Ashtyn Reichart OF (#28 EI/-- PG)
Jayden Ramos

TEXAS: Grade C (so far)
Cambria Salmon (#4 EI/--- PG)

*Top TX players have all ended up somewhere other than TX:
Samya Jones--LSU
Townsen Thomas--FL
Ella Mcdowell--ARK
Cameryn Harrison--ARK
Peyton Tanner--TN
Paislie Allen--UGA"

LSU has always had tremendous success with Texas recruiting. Texas obviously is a hot bed of talent especially in volume.

Wild to me how much A&M especially has struggled over the years to retain some of that talent.

Getting the talent isn't the end all be all but its part of the equation. Next obviously, its about molding that talent and putting them in position to be successful once they reach that next level

Totally agree, but it is a MUST ingredient. Hoping the talks of development being the issue is proven wrong over the next couple of years with the 2023 and 24 classes.

TX does have a ton of top talent, but I think most think TX and TAMU would hoard that talent. Sounds like they have not been doing a good job of that.

Skipped thru a long blurry vid on her twitter and someone was wearing an orange hat with orange and white balloons behind her.

The answer at A&M was pretty easy... Jo Evans...

Did you go last night to the fall game? I stayed 6 innings and we were up 7-3 over Chipola when I left.

I saw quite a few good things last night with our team. Very promising. Chipola wasn't a push over either... their starting lineup was pretty good and athletic.

I haven't been able to do much of any sporting events this fall due to some family stuff and work but I try to keep up (talking to a lot of folks)

Chipola usually has pretty solid teams. Its difficult to take much from these fall games as coaches use it to experiment, players are experimenting themselves playing different positions and working to expand their games. Its more of a time to experiment and work on yourself.

It does seem apparent the catcher situation is in much better shape this year which will honestly ease a lot of issues on the defensive infield. I feel pretty confident in the offense when you have kids like Clark, Pleasants, Briggs, Newland, Coffey, etc. I think its going to come down to inside the circle and how much we can get from the kids not named Kilponen.

Will be interested to see what the final OOC schedule looks like.

I do not believe so. I believe one of the recently committed kids was there (Jones) but I think it was just an unofficial to watch the softball team play and to catch that big Bama football game. There were several of the basketball and football committed recruits there for that football game as well (they caught a good one!!).

With 6 commits Coach Torina might be done for the 2024 recruiting class. That's a sizable class, especially with 7 already coming in the class before them (2023). She's probably pretty happy with what she has.

Saw the Doyle kid did what most were thinking she would and commit to Tennessee. Not sure how much is left out there considered a big recruit. All of them are off the table now I think.
