Haven't posted here in awhile. Every year I have a group that travels to 3 or so shows a year. Last year we did Iron Maiden in Dallas and then saw Dead & Co. one day in Dallas and Gojira in OKC the next. That was the best trip so far IMHO.

This year so far we've been to Melvins/CoC/Ministry in OKC and Black Label Society in Fayetteville. Coming up is Roger Waters in Dallas (postponed for 2 years) and then Alice Cooper/Misfits in Dallas 3 weeks after Roger Waters.

What shows have you caught recently?

The only show I've been to this year is The Weeknd. Doja Cat was supposed to open but left the tour before it started due to throat surgery. Of the shows you mentioned, I've seen Maiden, Waters, BLS, and Cooper previously.

Max Stallings Friday night, really good

Courtney Barnett, fantastic show. one of the best live shows Ive seen in a while. Wet Leg opened and they were really good too.

Centro-Matic reunion show at Dan's in Denton. I love this band but they separated about 8 years ago so Will could do his solo stuff and he also plays with Monsters of Folk. Pretty sure this is where I got covid.

Shinyribs last weekend.

Had tix to Bauhaus but they canceled so Peter Murphy could enter rehab.

Going to Black Angels pretty soon.

Literally driving home from Riot Fest in Chicago right now. Caught all of the following bands during the weekend (best performances in bold):
Boston Manor
Hot Mulligan
Anberlin
Jeff Rosenstock
Taking Back Sunday
Alkaline Trio
My Chemical Romance

Mannequin Pussy
Get Up Kids
Movements
The Menzingers

Madball
The Story So Far
GWAR
Yellowcard
Misfits

The Linda Lindas
Mom Jeans
Less Than Jake
Weathers
Save Face
The Maine
And the Academy Is

Disappointed I missed Go Go Bordello. The videos my friend took of their set Saturday was insane. Granted, I missed them to watch more of GWAR.

Outside of that, I haven’t caught a lot of non-local band shows outside of:
Kublai Khan and Terror
Cold War Kids
Simple Plan and Sum 41

Wet Leg a few weeks ago. Great show.

Amyl and the Sniffers tomorrow night.

ETA Amyl and Sniffers killed it tonight in ATL. Punk is alive and well. Kind like a White Tina Turner with AC/DC channeling the Clash, Ramones and Pistols in their heydays.

Megadeth in Dallas a few weeks ago was great. I refused to watch Five Finger Death Punch & left before they came on as they are just awful.

Iron Maiden a week ago in Austin was incredible. The brand new Moody Center on UT campus is one of the best arenas I have been to.

Was supposed to see Bauhaus here in Dallas next week & cancelled due to Peter Murphy being back in rehab. I was really looking forward to this as I have never seen them. Very disappointed.

I’ve been a big Flickerstick fan since Bands on the Run twenty years ago. I last saw them in Nola in 2009...

…until I caught the first of the two-night reunion shows in June at House of Blues in Dallas. I was very happy to learn they’ve decided to make music and tour again.

I'm headed to Format Festival this Saturday in Bentonville. It's a 3-day thing but I'm too old for that shite. Since it's local I figured I can't miss it. Bunch of bands I never heard of except for headliner Flaming Lips. Looking forward to that. Have most of the fam going with me.

I've only seen Iron and Wine open for Andrew Bird this year. It was predictably subdued and a little boring. Really pissed i missed Interpol opening for Spoon in Ashville. Oops, forgot about Highwater Fest in Charleston: My Morning Jacket, Jack White, Black Pumas, Modest Mouse, Sharon Van Etten. Highly recommend the venue and festival. Best food at a show ever.

Saturday I’ll be in Louisville for the Louder Than Life Festival. KISS is the main reason I’m going. Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Chevelle, Sevendust and Theory of a Deadman are on the list that day to.

October 3 I’ll be in Nashville for L7’s Bricks are Heavy 30th anniversary tour.
