re: Gameday traffic & parking

I didn't go to the game, but I wonder if you had many more people than usual on campus loitering (it's not "tailgating" if you aren't actually going to the game) given both schools were located in BR?

That said, the cops directing traffic (or not) are often lazy. There have been countless games where I have been coming in to campus on the River Road (from downtown) in bumper to bumper traffic, only to get to the intersection of River Rd and Skip Bertman Dr. and see 3-4 BR City police just sitting by their cars hanging out without a care in the world. The problem is you'll have people trying to turn left on Skip Bertman having to wait until northbond traffic on River Rd (i.e. people who were on campus to tailgate, but are now leaving because they aren't going to the game) clears. That is a 1-2 minute wait for each car that wants to turn left, which incrementally increases the backup. An officer could be directing that traffic...but they rarely are (though they do a better job exiting the game)

That also highlights another problem. If you arrive to campus about an hour or so before kickoff the hayfield lots are often closed because they are full. However, while they were full when they were closed, they steadily start to empty out to some degree because of all the loiters who are now leaving campus because they aren't going to the game. That leaves open, unavailable spots, that otherwise could be used. But since people can't access them, it creates more traffic because they have to go elsewhere.
