yeah cuz without that precious big bang, we might have to give credit to a creator.

I’ll never understand why these two things are seemingly mutually exclusive to so many people.

If you believe in God, why the frick could he not have acted through the Big Bang/evolution, etc, [insert your scientific theory here]? The existence of one does not prevent the other from also being true.

Unless you’re one of the literal/textualist creationists that thinks everything was created in six days. Then you’re just an idiot.

I never, NEVER agree with you but we are on the exact same page here. I’ll never understand why some people of faith refuse to think about what the hand of God in action might look like. It’s similar to those who don’t believe in extra terrestrial life but do believe in the angels of the Bible.

There is no need to be a smug, smarmy a-hole about it.

My theory is God created physics, set the Big Bang in motion… and let physics do the rest.

I completely agree. I think it's perfectly logical that God set evolution and the big bang into motion.

A thousand years has to seem like an hour to God. So each of the 6 days he created, could have been 6 of the scientific eras we've been taught about in school and not a 24 hour day like we understand them.

I agree. Could he not have created one singular object and loaded it with all the components necessary to life then set it into motion. You know the whole be fruitful and multiply thing on a universe wide scale. Thus aliens to us would also be his creation.

There is no "understand" because they aren't mutually exclusive. And I love the Big Bang; "kingdom of Heaven likened unto a mustard seed, the smallest of all...".

Philosophically, if God simply mandated It's Creative Dominance obviously in the creation of limited, free-willed 'children', then those who would (: devil:) would hold credible critique and Just rationale that God indeed engaged in a form of 'self-worship' as opposed to altruistic love in creating individuals which had NO CHOICE but to worship Him. The 'Big Bang' gives those who reject worship of God for the value of 'Equity'/Narcissism (I.e., Satan's desire to be equal to God) now cannot cry foul or indict God. They can go to 'Hell' (absence from God) of their own free will. And as many who take that bait, or worship that Value (Self). "He that seeks to save his self, shall lose it". We change. We evolve. We - Children of God who follow God's Truth - move toward power and perfection; though we know we'll never attain it. Going to Heaven, is where the fun is. Being there...is like Joe B smoking the cegar after the big game win. On to the next challenge.

God is perfect. Can't fool God.

God could've done it however He wanted. That said, I don't see why He'd need a big show for billions of years prior to seeing His creation peak January 13, 2020. Given that line of reasoning, saying that believing it happened in six days does not make one an idiot, even though I would disagree with them.

pro tip: No one believes the earth was created in 6, 24 hour cycles. Wanna know why?

Because the thing that gave us the 24 hour cycle, the sun, wasnt created until the 4th "day".* Which means those six "days" were in no way, shape or form time divisions. But more likely untimed chapters of a book categorizing similar creative tasks into a classification called "days",

* Gen 1: 16-19
quote:

And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Perhaps THE biggest misunderstanding of the creation story as told in Genesis is that everything was created in six days.

The reason people believe this is because they misunderstand what happened on the 7th day.

Genesis tells us God rested. RESTED. He didn't stop. He rested. That means he paused.

After His rest He created some more and continues creating to this day and will continue forever.

He used a burning bush to get Moses' attention. Why would we think He wouldn't use a Big Bang or evolution in His creation?
