Yeah a fanbase like that coming off a 5-7 season with limited reason for optimism this year was never selling out their allotment for this game. Certainly not that fast

It makes their athletic department look like baby back bitches for pretending though. Not SEC material

I agree other than a really cool venue or destination like Lambeau or Vegas.

I'm looking forward to seeing 30-40,000 tiger fans on the strip and Fremont Street. Gonna be lit!

And we don't pay the operating cost of hosting 100K people for the weekend.

To be fair, it’s not like the Superdome hosts the game for free.

I think neutral site games are less about revenue than scheduling realities. LSU would likely make considerably more money hosting FSU, but it would be a home and home so you’d wind up losing a home game in the future. On top of that, home/home series are harder to schedule in general because both schools have to commit for multiple years.

So it’s easier to schedule a single neutral site game, splitting the revenue, than scheduling a home/home series and still (ultimately) splitting the revenue anyway.

But we lose a home game. 100k tickets at $50 is $5mil. FSU game would sell for ~$100/ticket probably $125, then we get concession sales etc...

Jacques Doucet tweeted it the other day but LSU would probably have made $500,000 from a game like this. Superdome lower bowl seats outright go for $300 on LSU’s site when I checked. Our student section at LSU doesn’t even pay $100 for access to all home games, so that’s several thousand seats available for sale.

Does it benefit Baton Rouge as a whole with tourism? Yes. But LSU doesn’t have to pay for staff for concessions, security, etc. Their only added expense is travel and a hotel. They get discounts already for booking rooms for 200 something people. It sucks for the fans that want to go to Tiger Stadium and get the full LSU experience, but you’re not going to turn down a 1000% profit on less work.

Decadence will be in full swing on Sunday. There will be lots of FSU "fans" in Nola already.

I live in NOLA and was out and about tonight. There are TONS of FSU fans here. Expect the typical 25K fans from the out of state school…and 40k from LSU

There’s a much better chance of 30k FSU fans in NOLA for this game than there is 20k LSU fans in Orlando next year.

On Hunt & Hill, Hunt mentioned that FSU partnered with a ticket broker, sold what they could, and the remaining were purchased by the broker. Leads to believe that around 10k FSU fans purchased tickets directly through the university.

I thought from the start that was fishy. I never thought them a rabid, traveling fan base.

The Advocate reported that during the 2018-19 season LSU played seven games so each game made $5.14 million in ticket sales on a per average basis. That’s before staffing and other costs. This game they'll get a check for $5 mil and then next year when they go to Orlando they’ll get another check for $5 mil. If this was a home and home, FSU wouldn’t be dropping LSU a check for $5 mil next year.

I would be shocked if there were NOT 30k FSU fans. It will be a great atmosphere.

Also to people complaining about neutrals site…. It’s not just any site it’s the damn Dome baby.

Nah, there’s a lot more. Funny that people still defend democrats considering that Nola is the crime ridden hell hole it is because of its cyclical democrat leadership.

Random vehicle donations to the oppressed/getting shot are also horrific.
