Just about every "green" energy is actually worse for the environment than traditional energy sources except coal. When you account for production and transportation of materials.
I have to find the article but over 90% of solar farms have been installed in previous AG or forest areas, the two land types that are being developed the fastest btw. The heavy metal leaching from these farms will render that soil useless and not to mention there are no remediation or reclamation statues so the financial burden will fall to the land owner for cleanup. We are watching a environmental catastrophe unfolding before our eyes on our most valuable and least available habitat and land.

People always forget about the foot print too. A solar farm destroys acres of habitat for little reward compared to oil or nuclear. The storage of waste for these are roughly the same in space. And everything in solar requires oil to be manufactured.
