Help me get a screw unstuck

Wife bought a little mailbox she wanted out up and I apparently the screw they sent wasn’t the strongest.
Any idea of how to get this out of just put another screw below it and cover it up with the mailbox?
ETA: My speed out wouldn’t bite, I can’t ever get that damn thing to work. It did create a divot enough for me to drill it out with a small drill bit. After that I was able to screw into it enough to easily hold the mailbox. Finished my 15 minute 2 hours later

Ez out or if there is enough to get a bite on, a pair of vice grips and lefty loosey

Vise grips the easy answer.

If all else fails, take your propane torch and heat the screw until the plastic insert completely melts against it. then grab it with a pliers and pull or twist it out quickly.

Is there enough to grab with a drill?
You might be lucky enough to chuck down and then slowly spin it out in reverse. It's sweet when you get this to work.

Then mount the damn thing correctly into the BRICK!!!
Crap plastic anchors into mortar are not the RIGHT way to mount things.
Hammer drill, Tapcons, mount into brick.
Will be there from now on unless a tornado hits.

I'd try to grab onto it directly with the chuck and back it out. Then, as others mentioned tapcon directly into the brick.

I think this is a case where heat is your best bet.
Use a soldering gun (Weller or similar) and apply heat directly to the screw body. Once plastic softens pull screw out. Let anchor cool and it will come out easily with a corkscrew.

My contractor has always said to drill into the mortar. Said The brick has hollow cores in it and the new grade of mortar in homes is stronger.

At the risk of repeating: the chuck on a drill will automatically center the broken screw and often allow you to spin them out in reverse. Where a pair of pliers doesn't center itself at all and and only grabs on either side, two spots, instead of three. It's surprising how tiny a piece it'll work on.

We poured a bucket of cold water on our dogs when this happened. It worked!
