If the loft angle is similar and spin is similar, why do you care what degree the club is?
I've said it before, but the naming of the club is irrelevant. The key is we have 14 clubs to put the ball in the hole. Pick the best 14 that work for you.
I could care less what clubs someone swings on a hole. I got beat this weekend by a guy hitting a 7 iron when I was hitting a PW. He was a better golfer that day. The clubs we were swinging were irrelevant.

I don’t and neither should he. But it’s good for him to know where the distance is coming from rather than thinking it was some magical “fit” parameter. If it gets him the right numbers, all good. But he wasn’t talking about numbers in the OP. All he mentioned was how he liked more distance.
