From the grocery store? That seems like a ton. You can get a box of pasta, spaghetti sauce and a pound of beef for less than $15 to feed a family of 4 pretty well. I know you aren't going to eat that every meal.

A whole chicken is $1.50 a lb. Get a 4 pound bird for $6, buy some potatoes and some veggies and you have another easy meal for less than $15.

But more power to you if you're buying prime steaks every meal!

Single.
Don't really pay attention.
Probably $350 on groceries per month. I buy what's on sale that I like.
Eat out for lunch too much probably another $40/week.
Cook most nights.

Do y'all shop at Whole Foods? That's 50-60% higher than us. We spend about $300-350 every two weeks at the grocery store.

Family of five with kids 7 and under. Probably about 1,000 on groceries and maybe 500 or so on going out to eat.

Big pack of Charmin TP went from about $22 to $31 in the last few months.
Not looking forward to replenishing my COVID hoarded stockpile.

I haven't been doing any of the grocery shopping in the past couple months. Went tonight for a milk, bread, coffee, etc kind of trip. The clerk said 102 dollars for total. I did a double take from the shock and looked at the cart to think about what all I had just gotten, not shite.

Ground sirloin is going for about $8/lb. Get fresh seasoning, tomato sauce, paste and San Marzanos, pasta, vegetables, salad, bread and milk and you’re closing in on $40. I’ll leave the Prego for the college kids.

Prime ribeyes will run you $16/lb at Costco.

$1200 per month ish. Maybe more if the wife is hungry while shopping.

2 or 3 times the wife and I will eat at a bar. $200 more…maybe.

I grew up with 5 siblings, always ate leftovers. My spoiled teenage kids (15 yr old boy and 13 y/o girl) are learning to eat them now.

Family of 5
Two teenage boys and a younger girl
$250-300/ week groceries
$40 a week on alcohol
$50-100/week eating out

Shits adding up hell you can barely cook a decent gumbo for $40

How?

I could spend that little if we ate lentils, beans, and cereal every day.

I have no idea, maybe $800/ mo for my wife and I but that includes beer. And about $400/mo going out but that varies.

I think sometimes it’s easier to cook for more

I air fry one whole chicken ever week

We’ll have chicken apple curry

And I make chicken salad for wraps
I feel like we eat like kings at home

I feel like we eat pretty normal stuff. My wife is a very detailed meal planner though so she makes a list every two weeks. We also generally get most things at a big box store like Target.

About $150-200 a week for a family of 4.

I plan out cooking 3 meals a week. usually buy/cook something like this:

Meal 1 (crockpot):
Chuck roast
Cauliflower/broccoli
Carrots/potatoes

Or

Red or white beans
Sausage/ham
Rice

Meal 2 (oven):
Salmon
Spinach
Trinity

Or

Pork tenderloin
Squash/Zucchini

Meal 3 (pit or smoker):
Burgers
Sausage
Buns
BBQ or green beans

Or

Pork butt or chicken

Breakfast:
Dozen eggs
Bacon/sausage
Biscuits

Leftovers/fill in:
Tortillas/bread
Deli meat
Cheese

Stovetop substitutions replacing one of the above:

Tacos
Spaghetti and meat sauce
Jambalaya

Solid week of food for a family of 4. Easily had for under $200 a week.

Occasionally splurge on brisket or steak. We don’t eat out much except occasional Saturday morning breakfast at a local cheap diner or lunch at a burger place. So probably add another 100 per month there.
