I “discovered” several bands before they hit the radio or MTV back in the ‘80s - Queensryche, Dokken, and Icon to name a few. I’d just browse through albums at the record store in the mall and grab whatever name sounded cool, had a cool logo or album cover, etc.

Don't listen to them much today, but bought Motley Crue's first album based on the cover, as well as The Replacements' album Let It Be. Cover art was important in the 80's.
