I don' t think people talk enough about the importance of the Tennessee vs. LSU game... I would assume both teams come into the game undefeated (but the Vols have let me down before against Pitt & Florida). But lets assume it's undefeated against undefeated.

You have one program who for the better half of two decades has been poverty stricken and now has an opportunity to win a game that in years past they would have never even had a chance in. It is a chance to show the program is turning around.

On the other hand, you have a program that has won 3 national championships and maintained success over the last two decades. However, in the last two seasons have shown possible signs of a decline and hired their 5th option of head coach. (Not here to debate this, I know all of you before the coaching search would have said "hell no" if someone suggested getting BK)

Will be a trend setting game for both teams. With the talent difference between the two programs, if Tennessee fans want to actually look at the Vols as a national player then they in their up-swing have to be able to beat a team like LSU on a down-swing. Because if not now, when ever? Genuinely think it will be a great game matchup wise and can't wait to be there for it!

Would you rather it be a 2:30 game or night game?

If they're both undefeated, it will definitely be 2:30.

Tenn is not the make or break game for LSU
About 3/4 ahead in the pecking order

For this season, establishing west pecking order is more important for LSU
LSU was picked fifth in west, I would like to see them compete for second amongst west teams

This is pretty much a load of shite you just posted. I don’t think tons were mentioning Brian Kelly at the time, because it didn’t seem plausible, and wouldn’t have seemed like it could have been done. Woodward executed a fantastic coaching hire, and we got 1 of 2 or 3 dudes we wanted all along. I think most people here freaked out initially because it was a huge deal who the next guy would be. Brian Kelly was a monumental hire, and would have been for anybody. One of the biggest ever pulling him away from ND really.

I was born in Knoxville and my sister was in the Pride of the Southland but I ultimately went to LSU for college. I still root for UT when they're not playing LSU I'm 28 so most of the years I've been alive, UT has been straight dog shite. It's nice to see excitement around the program again, and I believe it will be a really great game.

I went to the LSU/UT game in 2017 and had a great time - the monsoon game. I hope you have a fun time if you decide to venture down to the boot for this one. Hoping it's a night game to get the full effect.

Yea pal we’re not on the downswing and Tennessee isn’t on the upswing but thanks for your concern. I’m sure a Tennessee fan of all programs would think they know what a downswing looks like with the 25-year-long skid you’re currently on, but y’all are the Texas A&M of the east and we’re going to push your shite in when we play. I’ll be tailgating at the Sonic on Burbank if you want to join when you come to town by the way

When the coaching changes board was open, a poster suggested BK, but most thought this wasn’t realistic. Not that he wasn’t a good option. The majority wanted Riley, but we’re damn happy with BK.

Honestly, Tennessee feels like a team on the rise, but I still expect lsu to win.

You can say that Tennessee has never been the same team after losing to LSU in the SEC championship game in 2001

LSU is the program on the up. Just because the relative starting points suggest Tennessee would try to climb to where LSU has been, doesn't mean that LSU is on its way down. LSU is ascending further past what it has been. Tennessee is trying to become an 8 win a year program.

Troll. LSU will beat y’all in year 1 and continue to dominate you on the recruiting trail. TennerC will never match up with LSU consistently. There’s not enough talent in that state and you can’t nationally recruit with Clemson, Georgia, and Alabama in your backyard as all bigger brands.

Stick around and it won't take you long to realize that there is no one single thing "all" LSU fans agree on.

Fans were bitching back in 2000 when LSU hired Saban. "That guy Dinardo killed in the Indy Bowl? NFW!"

While optimism always runs high in the offseason, this season will represent the lowest expectation level for the LSU fanbase in over 20 years. It's not that LSU fans don't think this team could be good or that they don't believe in Brian Kelly. It's that given the results of the past two seasons LSU fans don't go into this season EXPECTING LSU to realistically compete for an SEC or national title. For almost 20 years from (appx.) 2004 - 2020, that was generally the expectation level. If anything, LSU fans look at this season as the closet thing to a "rebuilding" year the program has faced since 2000 (Saban's first season at LSU).

No reasonable LSU fan is looking at the Tennessee game as some sort of "program defining" game. From the LSU perspective, the worst case scenario is in a rebuilding year LSU loses to an improving Tennessee program. Best case scenario, LSU wins, in a rebuilding year, reaffirming the program is still ahead of Tennessee in the SEC/national hierarchy.

With the talent difference between the two programs, if Tennessee fans want to actually look at the Vols as a national player then they in their up-swing have to be able to beat a team like LSU on a down-swing. Because if not now, when ever?

From the UT perspective that is probably right. If you can't beat a program like LSU when they are "down", then it starts to suggest maybe UT will never regain the stature they had for decades. Four coaches since Fulmer was let go...same, at best, mediocre results.

As for Kelly, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find many LSU fans who were truly disappointed in the hire. From an objective wins/loss perspective, I'm not sure anyone besides Saban, Urban Meyer, and maybe Dabo, could have been a better hire. Considering Saban and Dabo weren't leaving, and Meyer may not be in demand right now, it is hard to look at things today (not with the benefit of hindsight in a few years) and think LSU didn't make the best possible hire they could have made.

To the contrary. LSU fans see a program that is the ONLY program in the BCS/CFP era that has hired 3 straight coaches who ALL won national championships within 4 years of being hired. Given the pedigree (or lack thereof) of all of those coaches prior to taking the LSU job (yes, including a Michigan St. coach who hovered around .500 prior to his final year at the school), the perspective of LSU fans is "if Miles and Orgeron could win championships here, what can the guy who probably has the best track record of prior success LSU has ever hired do here?"

Think about the fact that LSU’s supposed 5th Option (according to you) wouldn’t have even fielded a call from Tenner!!

That should let you know where each program stands as far as National relevance.
