I was just saying that if he wants to do both and that is what gets him here, then you do it. Not saying he will be great on the mound, but you don't pitch him the idea of wanting him to just play a position if his mind frame is 2 way. He may not get a ton of innings but he can get innings here and there if he wants it.

One thing is for sure though, Jay will do what is best for the teams chances to win regardless when it all comes down to it. Saw that with Skenes this season and Jay not wanting him to hit because of the value he provided on the mound.

Boston College is about to hire Wofford's HC to be their HC. Similar to when Notre Dame hired VCUs coach last season, this opens up another portal shopping opportunity. I believe the rules allow for 30 days after the coaching change for guys to enter. So there may be some guys available that weren't before.

Wofford has been a strong program under Interdonato (the HC leaving for BC). They've been a portal favorite for programs looking for COVID year guys because they don't offer graduate programs. Kind of like the Ivy League but with better players.

I think getting Travinski to return is big for extending next year's lineup. I would assume he would be primarily a DH and potentially rotate there with Jones and Frey, while possibly getting some time at C (if Milazzo doesn't return).

I like him protecting White more than Jones or Frey and allows them to be slotted down the order in slightly less pressure situations.

That's the thing, anyone that would be on the radar to improve a roster like ours or the other Omaha teams and contenders, is absolutely on the radar of MLB scouts.

And in many cases, if those guys are looking to uproot their lives, they'd rather do it moving up than laterally.

There were a few interesting names who signed deals. I am not sure if any of them had eligibility left i.e. Calarco from Ole Miss and the Auburn Catcher are two off the top

Mason Neville in the portal from Arkansas. So both Ryan Ward and Mason Neville, who were committed to Jay at Arizona and switched to Arkansas when he came to LSU have since transferred out.

Ward is at San Diego now. Drake Varnado is in the portal from Arizona State. He was at least an Arkansas commit and may have been on campus for them at one point.

This is why I'm not concerned about their recruiting class. They don't care about incoming freshmen. They recruit over them every year with the portal and JUCOs. They're getting a bunch of guys in this year and at least one will be off campus at semester and another couple will be out after a year.

I think Jay also wanted to see who went where and when. Last year, I truly believe teams made some picks late based on which colleges had interest. I don't think Jay wanted to show all of his cards this year.

I really hope he comes back. A hopefully full, healthy season from him doing what he did when he came back last season would be huge for us. I know we have high hopes for Frey, Jones and Neal, but it'd be nice to have another experienced bat around White.

That and reeling in Montgomery

He played in 15 games for Arkansas. I guess he got a waiver? Possibly for an injury?
