The idea of a "hate crime" is nonsensical.
Commit people of the crimes they actually commit, enhancements because the prosecutor thinks they know what is going on in your head is dumb.

Yeah, it’s not like intent or state of mind is ever a factor in other crimes.
Edit: Let me call up the State of Alabama and protest their standard of pecuniary gain in capital sentencing for murder.

Agree. And how does this not violate the constitutional prohibition against Double Jeopardy? I mean I assume it doesn't otherwise these cases would get tossed out. I just don't see how the state can charge you with killing someone and then the feds can turn around and charge you with killing them with "hate" in your heart or violating their civil rights by killing them. Aren't they the same underlying offense?
Let's pretend a different administration is in charge of the DOJ. Can they just start rounding up all of these criminals that Soros-backed DA's are turning lose and re-charge them with hate crimes based on some social media comment they made? Can Ron Goldman finally get justice for his son and Nicole Brown since they were white and murdered in a rage by a black man? Let's let a more conservative federal jury pool hear THOSE types of cases, even after they have been through state adjudication. My guess is that you will hear the narrative on federal "hate" crimes change with a quickness when it's their political pets being rung through the double jeopardy ringer.

"innocent." If this had been a white guy trespassing (repeatedly) in an area he really had no reason to be, when people had been worried about theft... the circumstances could have been the same. Race only matters to the media. People get killed every day doing dumb shite.

Worrying about theft and doing what those rednecks did are two totally different things.

Federal hate crime laws=federal overreach
Murder is a state crime in most cases including this one.
The Feds piling on is nothing more than virtue signaling as the guy was already convicted and sentenced for murder.

Now do a comparison of all the white people violently attacked and murdered for simply being white in a predominantly black neighborhood versus black people violently attacked or murdered for simply being black in a predominantly white neighborhood over the last 40+ years. I can guarantee you it's very one sided and not in the way this story would imply.
