Vazquez is +5 in runs saved. Maldonado is -3. Both aren’t good pitch framers. Vazquez is around 30 percent base stealers caught. Maldonado is at 25 percent. The offensive comparison is no contest.

There is no tangible asset Maldonado has that Vazquez doesn’t have. Make him a coach, hell, let him wear Orbit’s costume. But his appearances should be reduced to 1 or 2 games a week.

I don’t think Maldonado cares at all about not playing as much. He was a backup in 2019 down the stretch after they traded for him
