Completely agree in a close home defense situation. You will give away your position before being able to get off a shot.
However, (see post above yours), I have a Streamlight TLR-6 on my G43X. I have a large backyard that backs up to 50+ acres of pasture land, a country road, and another few hundred acres of farm/river bottom land.
When my dog needs to go out at night, that light/dot makes it easy to scan the yard and make sure there is no threat out there before he goes out. Light is impressively bright/long range also for a small package. It is 130'+ from back patio to tree line in the pasture, and that thing will light up the treeline like the sun came out.
Mounted on a pic rail in front of the trigger guard means it still is an iron sight weapon if the light is off. Plus the added weight low/forward helps with muzzle rise when rapid firing. You can change batteries without removing/re-zeroing also. Another plus.
So it really is the best of both worlds for my application.

Like shooting any pistol/revolver/rifle/shotgun it is what feels good in your hands, and you shoot it well. Try different things and see what works best for you. One size doesn't fit all.
