re: What do you run on your home defense weapons?

I have the advantage in my home. I don't mount anything on mine. I'll hit what I am aiming for. Don't need to give them something to aim at.

Pray tell, how will you see, and how will you know exactly what you’re “aiming for” if it is pitch dark? Just blast away and check it out afterward?

Completely agree in a close home defense situation. You will give away your position before being able to get off a shot.
However, (see post above yours), I have a Streamlight TLR-6 on my G43X. I have a large backyard that backs up to 50+ acres of pasture land, a country road, and another few hundred acres of farm/river bottom land.
When my dog needs to go out at night, that light/dot makes it easy to scan the yard and make sure there is no threat out there before he goes out. Light is impressively bright/long range also for a small package. It is 130'+ from back patio to tree line in the pasture, and that thing will light up the treeline like the sun came out.
Mounted on a pic rail in front of the trigger guard means it still is an iron sight weapon if the light is off. Plus the added weight low/forward helps with muzzle rise when rapid firing. You can change batteries without removing/re-zeroing also. Another plus.
So it really is the best of both worlds for my application.
Like shooting any pistol/revolver/rifle/shotgun it is what feels good in your hands, and you shoot it well. Try different things and see what works best for you. One size doesn't fit all.

There is specific training that would correct this deficiency.
You should have a weapon light and the ability to correctly use it.

Setup a light across the room on strobe (detached from pistol disclaimer)... In the dark it's incredibly disorienting for several seconds, which is an eternity in defensive situation.
There is NO disadvantage to the OPTION of a weapon mounted light. To say otherwise is comically incorrect
