Too open to abuse by government for Conservatives and Libertarians and would be considered as "racist" amongst many Liberals and Progressives.

So right off the bat you're fighting an uphill battle.

The system we had with the paper ballots, mechanical machines and heavy restrictions on absentee voting and ballot harvesting worked far better and were more simple.

I get your point, but don't see how it differs in anyway from the current situation. Where do you get your drivers license or voter registration from today?

That's a NO. Under any circumstances, for anything. The best way to keep your information private is to keep it private and not in any database. Our lives are in too many databases as it is.
Digital identity WILL be abused. The globalists prize information more than they do gold. They will find a way to get it and use it to their advantage.
There's nothing wrong with current state issued IDs.

Blockchain is fine for holding the vote totals at state level after the paper ballots have been counted by County officials. I'm all for dipping your hand in ink after casting your one and only vote too.
