I do this surgery, but not in Louisiana. The best results , with low recurrence, are to undergo General anesthesia, inject the ingrown hair pores with methylene blue, excise all tracts, and leave wound open to heal by secondary intent( just gradually fills in in a few months. Do not put peroxide on a wound. Just some neosporin and a dressing till healed. You can close the skin, but that close to the anus, high infection rates.; although, if lucky, heals quicker. I don’t like this method, though, cause when it’s stitched up, you bring the hair back to midline, and risk recurrence

It’s a nest of hair embedded under the skin in the tailbone area.
