Great list and hopefully it opens some peoples eyes. I’d have SC and Bama higher. SC was built same year as the new box and it looks great but the bones need some renovating. Bama updated all their locker rooms, offices, lounge, training facilities just a few years ago.

SC’s bones need updating and LSU is further along in that regard, which is why I put LSU above them. Wasn’t really thrilled about their stadium. Playing surface was avg. too.

Bama’s is very new but some of their facilities I wasn’t impressed with. I think LSU’s are better overall and more modern now. Their hitting/ pitching/ weight room is below ours. Locker room/lounge/medical room are probably nicer than ours at this point.

Those are fair assessments. I found this thread from last year. A lot of the same opinions but I put together some details with pictures. One post I want to highlight that is relevant to my thread about Auburn:

quote:

We are also one of only 3 SEC teams that uses bleacher seating down the lines. It's us, Tennessee and Missouri. That's it. Kentucky has some area where you can bring your own chairs. It's like a berm but there's concrete to add extra seats for NCAA tournaments. Other than that, just the Box. It's embarrassing. LSU has also gone the longest without a true renovation or rebuild outside of Auburn which hasn't touched their stadium in a major way since 1996 and Arkansas which did their last reno in 2007 and at that time was the standard for college baseball and in many ways still is.

Bama - 2015 renovation
A&M - 2012 renovation
Ole Miss - 2009 renovation
State - Demolish and rebuild in 2019
Missouri had a renovation in 2014
Florida is new this year
Tennessee renovated in 2010
Kentucky got a new field in 2019
South Carolina 2009 new and better than ours
Vandy was built in 2002 and renovated in 2006, 07, 09, 12, and 16
UGA was renovated in 2015

I've been to Florida's new place and also A&M's and Texas', and I can guarantee NONE of those three deserve to be that highly ranked.

Disch-Falk at Texas has artificial turf, virtually no parking and sits on a busy street where you can hear motorcycles and trucks roaring past.

A&M's place is as bland as the rest of its god-forsaken campus. Beyond the outfield you can see those two unsightly beige barns. The media always complains that they can't see home plate from the press box because of the angle (#AggieEngineering ).

I would be happy if they did only two things at Alex Box:
Change the bleacher benches to seatbacks.
Get rid of those ugly painted billboards along the outfield wall. If they have to sell ads, tell the advertisers that they have to use white lettering or logos on a traditional, dark green ballpark background.
It would instantly change the look of the place.

The indoor track and football facilities are being knocked down and replaced. Track part (the larger of the two) is being demoed as we speak.

You can see home plate fine from the press box. What you can't see is the back stop. That's because the upper deck puts you much closer to the field than if it had been built like most college ballparks. That's why State went with an upper deck when they rebuilt Dudy Noble.
