1971...Yes, my brother I did get belt whippings occasionally, all deserved.
My father was a Millitary brat (my grandfather was a fighter pilot in WW2) and went to Airforce Academy, got medically discharged, went to GATech engineering. so we're made to do push-ups, little green chair (sometimes had to hold his cadet riffle out counting backwards) and the dreaded nose in corner.
Mom did occasionally. Once with our whiffle ball bat, that shite hurt the back of legs.

The worst spankings were those thin wooden paint stirrers. That shite stung like a motherfricker.
The best was my dad used to use a yard stick. And it never really hurt because it was so long and flexible. So I’d embellish the pain and walk away smiling. Well one time it broke and I (somehow) managed the balls to laugh at him because he broke it and couldn’t use it anymore. Well the joke was on me because he just used one of the broken halves of it, and it hurt like a motherfricker.
Ah, to go back to those times and be young and stupid again.
