I remember it well.
I knew three families on Fairway, two a block away and one whose house was so close to disaster that the wing made a rut in the yard on the side of the house, and his father was home. I was at Godfather's Pizza on Veterans Blvd. applying for a job (and got hired). When the rain stopped I went outside and could smell the smoke. The news helicopter was hovering over the parking lot where I was. Completely bizarre day.
